January update...nesting...
The holidays have come and gone, I really enjoyed having everyone here with me between Christmas and New Years. We are getting the house ready for the baby, between three trips to the dumps and 5 to DI it is finally feeling like we might be able to find room for everything a new baby requires. I am still working on getting my bedroom set up as the temporary nursery. It will only be for a few months which is the ideal time frame anyhow. Come summertime when the kids are out of school, we plan on converting our office to the nursery and hopefully repainting and re-carpeting the upstairs.
In the 21 years that Blaine and I have been married, we sure have managed to accumulate a lot of "stuff". Slowly but surely it is getting cleaned out and the process is quite refreshing however there is always a tinge of guilt associated with it because some of the items we are getting rid of are gifts that we received. I know that we can't keep everything and stuff that we keep should be functional or bring joy, not carry emotional baggage.
On January 15th, I had a fantastic baby shower hosted by my awesome cousins Wendy and Heather with the help of their mom, Heidi and my daughter Jessica. I was so grateful to everyone who attended and humbled by the outpouring of the love and support that we received. I can't express enough gratitude to our family and friends.
We are now seeing the Dr. for weekly appointments. The last 3 weeks I have had to go in for NST's once a week. Blaine is always at my appointments and by my side, I know that this pregnancy has been exciting but emotionally draining too. My health issues upfront made it so that he is very protective of me even more so than usual, he wants to make sure the baby and I make it through this okay. We were told again last week that they plan on taking the baby around 38 weeks, only a few more weeks to go.
Jess has decided to shorten her work hours so that she can spend more time with her sister and helping Blaine and me. She also really wants to be present at the birth, I know that she is carrying a heavy load at school and am touched by her dedication to her family.
AJ really does not want to ruin his "perfect attendance" at school and would rather not experience the thrill of the labor and delivery process. He will be happy to come after the baby has arrived and is cleaned up. He was asked to the Sweethearts dance on Feb. 12th, we still aren't sure about an induction date yet. Who knows, I could be in labor when he is at the dance...
I will be adding pictures of the "nursery" as soon as I get it finished. The crib is together, sheets washed and bed made. Changing table and the dresser are loaded with clean clothes up to size 6 months, diapers, wipes, etc., rocking chair in place, pack n play assembled, car seat and stroller are ready to go. Waiting on Amazon to ship the rest of the items I am missing but we would be okay for a while without it. This nesting stuff is tiring business, maybe I should go have a nap.
